Athletic Philosophy
The athletic program at CHS exists to provide students the opportunity for athletic competition, skill development, fitness conditioning, team building experiences, character development, discipline, positive social interactions, fun, and to promote a general sense of school enthusiasm and pride within our school community.
At Christian Heritage School, the athletic experience is a major part of our Student Life and enhances the lessons of the classroom. Over 70% of our students participate on at least one of our teams. Our coaches, which include teachers, local pastors, and parents, are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of our student-athletes while helping them define success from a biblical perspective.
In the lower school, we offer two programs that help our children have a beginning athletic experience, FUNtastic Sports in the Fall and Spring help teach the basics of each of the sports. In the Middle School, we offer an interscholastic program and an intramural program to allow our students to experience and develop their God-given talents in athletics. At the high school level, we focus on refining skills and maximizing the potential of our student athletes while competing against our opponents, some of the top private schools in New England.
Our programs are focused on mentoring and building character into the lives of our students through athletics and our coaching staff focusing on the education and development of their spirit, mind and body. Our Athletics Department focuses on:
- Honoring Christ
- Discipline
- Service
- Commitment to Excellence
- Building community
All students and their parents are required to complete the Athletic Expectations & Eligibility Requirements form prior to a student's participation in any sport and they must also have a current CHS Health Examination Form on file prior to trying out for any sport.
Christian Heritage participates in a number of different athletic conferences, associations and tournaments that allow us to create the best possible experience for our student-athletes. We are a member of or participate against the Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL), the Connecticut Independent School Athletic Conference (CISAC), and the Western New England Preparatory School Athletic Association (WNEPSAA), all of which are governed by the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). The members of these conferences include some of the most competitive and prestigious sports programs in New England and New York state.
Through our highly-competitive varsity sports programs, Christian Heritage teams have won many league and conference titles. Our athletes have also been selected to many All-Tournament, All-League, All-State, All-New England and All-American teams. As a result of these accolades, many of our student-athletes have been recruited by and played for some of the best Division I, II, III and NAIA colleges and universities in the country.
